What is Fair Trade?

People often ask: Why fair trade?

When Tumi started in 1978 the word fairtrade was not used in the same way as it is today. But there are organisations in the UK such as Tearcraft and later Tradecrafts and Tumi who developed the concept and tried to show others that you can make viable business in a capitalist society whilst being fair and just with the people who provide you with the income, often the artesans who live in developing countries.

We have a selection of lovely hand made beads. They make a wonderful gift for anyone who loves beads, or are great for your own jewellery making project.

Tumi began importing hand made ceramic beads from Peru a long long time ago and more recently began importing Venetian style glass beads from India. Today our range includes clay beads, wooden beads, metal beads, bone beads, venetian style glass beads, skull beads and most recently our exciting new range of acai and choloque beads from Peru – these are seeds from plants that grow in the Amazon. These come in a lovely range of colours! Please have a browse, feel free to ask us anything and remember – our beads are hand made and fair trade beads.
