What is Fair Trade?
People often ask: Why fair trade?
When Tumi started in 1978 the word fairtrade was not used in the same way as it is today. But there are organisations in the UK such as Tearcraft and later Tradecrafts and Tumi who developed the concept and tried to show others that you can make viable business in a capitalist society whilst being fair and just with the people who provide you with the income, often the artesans who live in developing countries.

Traditionally across the Andes, mothers would carry their babies and small children using a manta cloth - a handwoven square of cloth that could be used to carry anything. These baby slings are made out of brightly coloured manta cloth which has been lined. They are easy to put on and take off and are comfortable to wear - both for you and the baby. They can be used with newborn up to babies weighing 18 kilos. They conveniently fold up very small and can also be used as a makeshift blanket when you are on the move. Colours vary. Please note the approximate width of 51cm is when the sling is opened up, when it is in use, this width will be halved in order to hold the baby in place. |
