What is Fair Trade?
People often ask: Why fair trade?
When Tumi started in 1978 the word fairtrade was not used in the same way as it is today. But there are organisations in the UK such as Tearcraft and later Tradecrafts and Tumi who developed the concept and tried to show others that you can make viable business in a capitalist society whilst being fair and just with the people who provide you with the income, often the artesans who live in developing countries.

The original idea behind the dreamcatcher was to allow good dreams to slip through the web and into the sleeper during the night, but catch the bad dreams which perished by morning. This is a native American idea and was found in various tribes, with slightly varying interpretations. The earliest dreamcatchers were made by parents for their new born children in an attempt to protect them from nightmares. Individual personal charms were woven into the web and the dreamcatcher would be hung from the cradle. Originally made from willow and covered with sage, the web was made from deer sinew. These ones are made from suede, beads and cotton, as well as feathers which are believed to help the flight of good dreams. Hand made in Ecuador and available in different colours. |
