Waorani means people and waaponi means all that is good. This is the first and only recording of Waorani tribal chanting. Made in the remote Rio Napo region of the Ecuadorian Amazon it captures the haunting voices of some 200 tribal singers in the Queheueiri-Ono community of the Waorani people. The recording features a variety of songs and chanting as well as the natural background sounds of the rainforest. " .. the result is wonderful ... You're taken immediately deep into the heart of Ecuador's Amazonian Rainforest, to the chants, warrior, marriage songs of the people set against the evocative sounds of the tropical forest." Folk Roots magazine, UK |
