Description: Maracas are thought to have originated in Central and South America and although traditionally made out of dried gourds like these ones, can also be made from wood and other materials. They can be filled with anything from small pebbles to grains of rice. They are shaken like a rattle in tropical and jazz music and are normally played as a pair. These are hand made and hand carved in Ecuador.
