Carved tagua (vegetable ivory) animals

These animal figures are carved out of tagua, also known as vegetable ivory, the seed of a palm tree that grows naturally in rainforests across Latin America.   Tagua bears great resemblence to ivory, hence the name vegetable ivory and is the ultimate ethical alternative.  These animals are carved by hand and all sit or stand on a tagua base.
